A little get away hunting trip
Mark and I finally got away on a little hunt. Left around 8 this morning, took about 1 1/2 hours but made it. Spent the day scouting mostly, this old farm is grown up in thickets and briars now that the old farmer has passed. His son allowing us to come but warned us that it was different now. Got camp set up, that’s Mark fixin ya pop up his pop up camper!

Re: A little get away hunting trip
A few hours later I kept hearing something below me at the bottom of the hollow of the picture above. Finally I spotted a lonely doe wondering up the hill towards Mark. Then later she turned and began slowly feeding through the acorns towards me. After about thirty minutes she finally presented me a broadside shot at about 25-30 yards. Since she was working towards me I decided to wait for a closer shot. It finally happened, probably 15 yard range. I let go and she jumped as the arrow flew directly over her back! Look closely at the picture and you will see my green lighted Nock to the left of the Chestnut Oak.

Re: A little get away hunting trip
Here’s one for the books. She jumped and froze trying to determine what just happened, she wasn’t moving knowing something was there but couldn’t find it. She waited too long as I done nocked another arrow. This time I lowered my sights slightly and boom, looked like a good hit but no lighted Nock this time. She turned and ran just a little and stopped to look back. Then she turned and started coming up the hill on the other side of me, surely I hadn’t missed! I nocked my third and final arrow as she quickly approached on the other side of me. I got a good shot but she is angling towards me. Hit or miss I’m about to shoot my last arrow!
Re: A little get away hunting trip
I kept waiting for her to turn a little, she is showing signs of distress, maybe she is about to fall? Whether or not if she turns a little she will get another arrow coming her way. Finally she does, she is slightly angling towards me and I am high above her but here I go again! I release the third arrow with another lighted Nock and watch it fly exactly where I’m looking!
I watched her run about 30 yards and disappear, but it sounded like I heard her fall! So I sat down and relaxed, then for fun I texted Mark and ask him to bring me some more arrows! He wouldn’t respond.

Re: A little get away hunting trip
Finally I got down and gathered up my arrows. As I started towards where she went I was seeing a lot of this stuff...
