Hollywood and backwards Bows

#1 Post by Graps »

I wanted to start a thread about Hollywood and Bows strung backwards .
I was looking for pictures online and was overwhelmed with the pictures of just wrong Bows .
People stringing Bows backwards and calling them left hand Bows to sell .
I saw a woman on a magazine cover with a Takedown longbow with the limbs mounted backwards and strung up , holding the handle upsidedown trying to look like an archer .
I gave up looking when I found the following picture of a cool guy posing for a film shot .
Hollywood is so realistic and toatially accurate in portraying real life .

Good one Graps! I found an old bear on ebay that I would have liked to had but it was strung backwards also. Made me wonder how much damage had been done to it by dry firing it shooting at imaginary cowboys. Likewise I wonder how much damage has been done to our society by Hollywood portraying things backwards from what they should be !!!

On a more serious note, I have seen TONS of bows on eBay strung backwards. Apparently this is the 'vogue' way to store a recurve...strung backwards. Only thing is, you never know if the owner is a fairly intelligent guy or a complete moron who shoots it that way....and yes, dry fires it.
Only way I can get a clue is by reading the description and trying to decipher whether it's a knowledgeable archer or a funny farm escapee....not exactly the empirical approach, but better than nuttin'.

Not only did the idiot parent string the bow backwards, but the idiot instructor is letting the leftie girl shoot without a glove or tab. Yeah...she'll wanna try again tomorrow. Right...

And check out that brace height...what, like a foot or two?
