Broadhead question

#1 Post by Crazynate »

Sorry if this is in the wrong section. I used to be strictly a bear razorhead user and still am to a point. But last year I bought some 3 blade VPAs and they do damage. Question is have any of you used 3 blade heads from a 45# bow? Typically I hunt with my bob lee or predator which are 50# but since surgery I'm taking a step back and using my Kmag which @my draw length pulls 47#. I pull 28.5" and my Easton carbons weigh 500 grains with the 3 blade. I also have steel inserts for my razorheads that gives me the same weight but I really like the VPAs. You guys think I'll be alright with them? I keep my shots under 18yards. Was looking foreword to see how many of you use 3 blades with lower poundage? Thanks guys

I have not personally but would certainly have confidence in that set up. I have just always preferred a two blade, others are just as committed to the three blade.

I elected not to use the 3 blades that came with my arrows and accessories along with my Griz...they were Woodsmans, and skeletonized...supposedly, they are noisy in flight, and the point intersection where the 3 blades meet can be tricky to sharpen. Besides, I prefer a 2 blade like the Eskimo. To me, they are more in fitting with a bow like my older Bears, and woodies. I would be a little leery about shooting Razor Heads; they are thin, and the tips have been known to curl on impact with bone. But in the end your opinion is the only one that matters!

I have zero doubts that vpa will do a great job. You do your part and tune, and put it where it counts and they will zip right through no problem.
