Flintlock vs percussion cap.... AND GO!
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.

Re: Black Powder-the Trad Archery of Guns
Oh...this looks BAD.
What Dale said. .50 cal is fine up to deer size and even into elk. If I was gonna do a lot of elk hunting I would go .54. Lyman GPR is a great gun. I have their Trade Rifle in .50 which is 1:48 and it likes a tightly patched roundball (.495 w/ .010 patch) but pretty sloppy with a solid slug like the Lee REAL bullet unless I pan dip them in Emmert's Lube and use a Wonder Wad under the slug. The GPR is a much slower twist and really stabilizes a patched round ball (PRB).
Flint is way cool but much more for an experienced BP shooter in my opinion. Starting out I would go with a .50 cal GPR in percussion. But what do I know?

Some pictures of the wood in the flinter stock.

I guess that after you've done a few of these, you acquire the patience to hold off rubbing some oil in to see the grain contrasts.
I'm all huffin and puffing after working in the garden, trimming shrubs and planting an iris plot with some transplants that were given to us. I looked at the wood, saw the grain in the stock and then my eyes saw the plywood and thought, what is that gonna look like?
Now I know why they put these projects on a contrasting fur or something for photos - to help those with brain fade
Lookin good!

Jesus replaces the old covenant and speaks to the believer the moral code of God by His Spirit directly to the heart. He is the eternal, everlasting revelation of God to mankind. In Him is both the knowledge of righteousness and the power to live right.

Looks purty. Yeah captain that is probably what will happen eventually. Probably a gpr 50 percussion with the slow twist.
