Yukon Moose
Be my dream...
In reality, I just want a season where everything goes smooth, my clients all tag out, and we get to go salmon fishing.
It always seems like the fishing is best when I am elk hunting, then when elk season closes, the fishing is slow.

Re: Opening Day!
Deer opened yesterday, I went to the range. Had the place to myself (except for a coyote that ran through) Elk opens next Saturday. I will be hunting Coastal Roosevelts. Now, if one of those 4 bucks my kids and neighbors been telling me about come through my yard, I might duck out and circle around ...

Re: Passing up a shot?
We only get one tag.
One deer a year, The only ones I pass on are the ones in my yard.
Any other legal deer that is dumb enough to let me have a shot at it is in danger.
They taste too good to end up with tag soup, it tastes like paper.

Re: How can it be?
One of the reasons I don't get involved in a lot of posts.. I am not an equipment junkie. I pick one of my bows to hunt with, grab a couple dozen arrows that are in my shop, shoot them at a target a whole bunch until I get those ones that always hit where I want them, put on my broadheads, and keep ...

Re: Your Hunting Journal, 2016
I have already started, seems like Christmas the amount of thinking and planning I do before I go see what is under the trees.
I sure hope I get to open something up.

Re: release help
A lot of archers forget that form is important even after the release and just let go of string. Relaxing and letting go is why it is called a release, or "loosing" the arrow. Pull all the way through the draw, as you relax the fingers. I try to think about "The 11 steps to archery su...

Can you get there in time?
I already am a little scatter-brained, seems I would never get anything done.
Staring at my phone like a Pokemon-Go Zombie...

Re: The time is drawing near
Tearing me up guys! Although we now have Elk and Elk hunting in Ky I don't live in the area where they are located, so I don't know if they are bugling or not. What gets me now is even though I am at home and the closest elk is at least 6 miles away, I hear someones brakes squeal and my head comes ...

Re: Bear and deer loading for solo hunters
I've seen videos of guys, grabbing deer and flinging them over their backs and walking out with them....or a single man dragging off with a deer for what seems like a long ways. Id like to see them do any of that, with our mature deer here. Same here, especially when you figure you are probably dow...

Re: The time is drawing near
What we are seeing here in Washington is the younger bulls bugling and acting goofy around the cows, the older bulls are just watching. Not really "rut" behavior, just the teenagers showing off for each other. Should be a few cows hitting their first estrous soon, things are about to get i...
