I then cut out the rest of the site window and then the throat of the grip.
If your wondering what the clamp and block are doing, they are allowing me to keep the bow flat and steady. A little leg I guess you can say.

Nice! Goodbye bandsaw blade.
Re: Elk Seeker longbow build
No, not really. This blade is one of those Carbide tipped Lennox Tri-Master blades. They hold up pretty good when cutting glass and carbon fiber. They better when you have to pay $130 for one!

After rough cutting the riser shape, I take it back to the edge sander where I start rough sanding it down close to my desired shape. As far as I can with that piece of equipment.
Then I change the spindle on the Spindle Sander. I put the one inch spindle in.
Now with the 1" spindle, I can get into the throat and refine the shape even more.

Okay!
I am getting very close to shooting this longbow.
I pull out the rasp and files and work down the shelf and sight window to my desired shape and design.
After all the filing, I go to medium grit sandpaper and start the sanding process. With the help of yet more tools, I have the bow to where I can go take the first shots out her.

Re: Elk Seeker longbow build
Well, I think the bow is going to be a little lighter than the 45# to 50# I was shooting for
But on the bright side it shoots just fine.
This was the third shot from 18 yards.
I only had one arrow with me.
Looking at the longbow as it hangs on the arrow I can see I have a little more tillering to do. I need to balance the limbs a little better. The upper limb has more bend compared to the lower limb. Hopefully it won't take much. I would like it to stay close to 45#.
