Okay, finally getting back on track. The last month and a half to 2 months have been really....well let's just say not great.

Anyway I have been testing this test bow in this build and I like how it turned out. As I draw it back it seems smooth, but once you get to 28" draw you can tell the stacking is starting. Even though the bow is smooth the max draw length I would feel comfortable saying it was good out to is 28".

Here are some draw weights for test bow #1.

18" 28.3
19" 30.3
20" 32.3
21" 34.5
22" 36.7
23" 39.4
24" 41.8
25" 44.5
26" 47.2
27" 50.3
28" 53.8
29" 57.5

I have made a second test bow using a 14" riser vs the 16" riser in the first test bow.

This bow is smoother, but I gave it more working limb.

Another reason for this 2nd test bow was to test the I-beam method in my riser and this will become obvious here soon.
Since I took it down to a 14" riser I used, what I call a 2 piece riser. Part is glued up with the bow and the palm swell and part of the sight window are glue on after. Many others do it, don't know what they call it. Makes it a little easier to use a 14" riser as well.
These 2 testbows will also give me some data for future bows as far as lamination thicknesses for the core to meet weight.

I think the 14” riser will work out good for you on this bow, just my opinion. I have went as short as 12” on a longer bow than yours. :?

Okay, now for the real deal!
Awhile back I received a message from Dale (Graps) wanting me to build him a bow.
What! Me!?
Wow, I was in shock, but soon warmed up to it.
He said he was going to have the riser block sent out to me.
At the time Dale contacted me I was starting a form for a shorter Elk Seeker. Since I hadn't got to far into it I started a different one as you all have now seen in this thread.

It was a bit of a wait to get the riser.

Oh wow! This thing is beautiful.

So let's make the first short 52" Elk Seeker Longbow.
A 52" longbow seemed a stretch, but after the 2 test bows I think I can do this.

I can't get over how cool this riser block is. It's kinda spooky thinking I will be cutting it to pieces to make this longbow.

Dale picked out Charcoal colored lams under clear glass.

If you recall test bow #2. The riser was made of Alder. It's not something I would use for a riser, so I used it to test for the I-beam. I used a piece of oak as the I-beam. All scape sitting around the shop.

I will try to hide most of it.
