Got me a nice gift today!

#1 Post by Shadowhntr »

A friend decided to make and send a beautiful blade to me as a gift! I think he got the wood from Jose! It matches my Bacote bow perfectly. He hand made everything...blade, handle, sheath! Its D-2 high carbon/high chrome steel that he heat treated to 60 Rockwell. Its small, and controllable. ..just like I like em. The thing shaves like a bic razor! I love it, and I will be doing up my deer in the field with it! (Im boning in the field) I'll post pics .

Love it! Reminds me of the size of my little Finnish knife I use for deer. Great job.

Made mine from a file and I used Micarta for the scales. I did not anneal the blade to shape and grind it. I Very slowly ground it down and dipped after each pass on the grinder to keep it cool so as not to lose its temper or hardness. It has the same hardness as the original file, so edge retention is nuts. I gutted, skinned and processed 3 deer with it and it would still easily shave. This is ONLY used for hunting. I have lots of knives, including some custom and high end knives, but this one is special and gets taken on every hunt. /longstory
