Just a small example of improvised stamps.
I filed the nail heads and a common torques driver.

Some doodling on a scrap piece of leather.
First you wet it.
I used a claw hammer on the stamps.
When the leather is damp, the surface is very tender and easy to mark up.

I thought I would show how to carve leather too.
Don't need many tools for this either.
Wet the leather as if you are going to stamp it.
First you lay out your picture and lightly cut the outside and any major details.

Then with a smooth piece of metal, like the handle end of a piece of silverware, you smash the leather around the outside profile.
Now watch out for your fingernails, that leather will mark very easy when damp.

Now do the same with the major details inside the picture but not as aggressive.

Then just work blending the leather to look like it's not flat, add wrinkles and finer lines.
That's all there is to it.
It only has to look like what you want, because like a painting, your brain will fill in the gaps.
Now when I do a leaf like this, I usually will lift a few of the edges to add to the 3D affect, but this is going in a pocket so that would just get ruined very quickly.

I will add, we are not going to bend the top flap yet.
That needs to stay out of the way until we have everything stitched up.

OK, I'll admit it...I'm blown away by your detail and ingenuity thus far. Definitely tuned in.

Sorry for the delayd but I need to pay attention to the wife unit once in awhile.
Ok, now dry fit the spacers in the fold. And mark with a knife and take them out and cut them flush.
