I made this arm guard over the weekend for a friend of mine. He's getting a new selfbow from another feller we know and I figured he ought to have a new arm guard to go with it. Come to find out that yesterday was his birthday so my timing was pretty good.
The backing of this arm guard is vegetable tanned cowhide and the facing is from the tail of a caiman (Honduran crocodile). The trim around the outside is New Zealand red deer hide. I carved the lace hooks from deer antler and sewed it all up by hand using artificial sinew.

That's one of the best looking arm guards iv'e seen.
