The Last Track

#1 Post by Graps »

Tom Brown Jr. a very renowned tracker passed on the story of the last tack.
Tom and his friend Rick were students of Grandfather ( Stalking Wolf ) who not only thought them tracking but living with the land and life lessons.
This one day Tom and Rick were arguing about what they saw at a particular situation that took place.
Grandfather took both of them and sat them on the ground facing each other more than a few feet apart.
Grandfather then placed an animal scull on the ground half way between them with the nose towards one of them and the back of the skull toward the other.
Grandfather then asked each of them to tell only what they could see and nothing more.
As the boys described what they could see, Grandfather mentioned how there descriptions were diffrent.
One could see the nose and eye sockets and the other could only see where the scull was attached to the spine.
Grandfather then told them they were both correct because of where they were viewing the skull.
His point of the lesson was that just because you have differing viewpoints, doesn't mean your viewpoint is the only one that is right.
Then Grandfather picked up the scull and told the boys that an animal's scull is it's LAST TRACK.
He then had them both study the skull with all the lines and curves, looking inside under and around.
Life is too short and precious to needlessly squabble about different points of view especially when neither one has all the facts.
Respect the last track, we all are going to leave one......
