Leather wrapped bow grip.

#1 Post by Graps »

This is how to do a leather wrapped bow grip.
Cut some suede leather 1 1/4" wide and about 30" long.

Going to use Barge Cement because it holds good but is easy to remove from your bow if you want to.
Just rub it with your thumb and it will just roll off.

Now put some Barge Cement across one end for about an inch and align the start point opposite the site window and slightly angled up.

Bring the strap around to lock the start point in place and start wrapping around.

Now continue wrapping and overlapping by about half the width of the strap.

When you reach the point where the wrap is as wide as you want, align it up opposite the site window and cut about a 45° angle.

Then put Barge Cement on the angled end and carefully place it so the point of the leather aligns with the edge of the last wrap.

Then wrap the end with something to hold it in place for a few hours.
I like these large garbage can bands, but anything elastic would work.

After it's set for a few hours or even the next day, you take the rubber band off and you can smoother out any bumps with your thumb.
And as you shoot with it, it breaks in and will conform nicely.
This is the easiest way to do a leather grip and it kinda looks neat too.
Also suede comes in many colors.

Sweet. What would you use for a more waterproof grip?
Nothing clears a troubled mind like shooting a bow.
